You make a lot of valid points. Top one — about those ranters who dismiss other writers who are teaching what they know about writing to others — for pay. Yes! They can and should do that. All the free courses are fine, but eventually when you sign up with someone really good (and they aren’t currently writing for Medium, believe me — though I might sell a killer course someday!!! lol), you get every penny’s worth of what you paid. And you don’t get just knowledge, you get connection and you get support and backup. Because that’s what the really good ones offer.
I’m waiting to be able to afford one particular course from Jon Morrow of SmartBlogger — called the Freedom Machine. I’ll get there, and he’s worth it. I invite you to aim high. Look up Jon Morrow. I don’t have many heroes, but he is one of very few in my life! He deserves the amount I will eventually pay because he gives that much. And he is severely disabled and turned himself, with his supportive (but not rich) family, into a multimillionaire. Not by blogging, although he did that first, but by changing himself into the entrepreneur-teacher he aspired to be.
Best of luck, Wendy. You named five true things. Keep at it!
