Shannon, you are definitely on the right track. I used to recoil at “positivity” but there are other ways to reframe that word. You used one of my favorite ones, grit. I’ve been recognized widely as having grit. Then, resilience. Another related word.

I had lost my positivity, grit and resilience all in one fell blow after what was supposed to be a super-positive event and attainment of a long-held goal: liver transplant. Some shit things happened right after it (of course related to family) and somehow I fell off the positive, grit, resilient wagon. I re-read a New Yorker article about resilience and how it can be re-learned, just this morning. Now I’ve read your article, just underlining what the first one said. And I’m on the road back to reframing my life in positive terms. Thanks for the added inspiration.

And yay on you!!!
