Malcolm always asks and persists in asking the hard questions until he gets more and more information. I’ve read several of his books, and watched several interviews on youtubes, and he does this same thing in each platform. On youtube you can almost feel his interviewee start mentally squirming as he brings them back over and over in different approaches to something he wants answers about. That’s a good way to approach writing, too — what are the questions. He doesn’t offer just one simple answer, but multiple and layered, complex answers. “Talking to Strangers” uniquely answered so many questions about how we talk to the many different kinds of strangers we talk to.
