I read your article because it addresses PTSD following a harrowing medical event. That’s what I have. But earlier in life I was sexually traumatized as a child and had PTSD and NO support because I simply buried the event. I lived with the results for 3–1/2 more decades until I found a therapist who “got it” the very first time I saw him. I think your resources and research are okay — but not great. If you do want to know more, I suggest “Trauma and Recovery” by Judith Herman, MD, psychiatrist, who first clearly defined PTSD in her 1992 book. There’s another psychiatrist who works with her in Boston at a trauma center, Bessel Van der Kolk, MD, also psychiatrist, who wrote “The Body Keeps the Score.” Both books give more and better definitions and descriptions of the mind and emotions of someone with PTSD. Neither book is an easy read for those who have been traumatized. But worthwhile.
